"Do More, See More With Asus Widescreen LCD"

By Mendelson Tiu | Published:2007-12-4

With an abundance of LCD monitors in the market, users may have a hard time choosing which one suits them the best. We take a look at the new Asus MW221C and find out whether this 22-incher is slicker than your average.

The box contains the 22-inch monitor, DVI cable, VGA cable, base, audio cable, power cord, user manual CD, and quick start guide. The base and the lower part of the panel sport a brushed aluminium surface, while the rest of the panel is encased in a black chassis. Users cannot lift or swivel the monitor as the stand is fixed to the base, but they may be able to tilt the unit -5 degrees up to 20 degrees. Users may also be able to detach the stand and the ASUS cover found at the back of the monitor in order to mount the LCD using a VESA wall mount kit (sold separately).

The power button/indicator, brightness hotkey/ increase value, menu button, volume hotkey/ decrease value, and the Splendid hotkey are all found at the bottom of the screen bezel (beside the Asus logo), while a 3.5mm jack can be found right below the headphone port icon. The speaker can be found at the bottom of the unit but is ‘hidden' as it blends in with the bezel. Finally, users may be able to find an AC adaptor port, audio-in, DVI port, VGA port, and Kensington lock at the monitor's rear. Sadly, there aren't any other video input ports (like S-Video or Composite) and connectivity options (USB ports) present on the LCD, making it limited to a certain extent.
