The partnership kicks off with Samsung presenting the Quiksilver Pro surfing competition which starts today on Queensland's Gold Coast. It is claimed that that over 30 000 spectators attend the event and the live webcast is viewed by over one million viewers worldwide.

One out of every ten people in Australia surf more than once a week. Samsung's initiative to partner with Quiksilver is a strong leap towards attracting the alternative sporting market which becomes more popular each year. Samsung claims to have enjoyed healthy growth in the mobile phone and MP3 markets and it's that with these areas that drive the need for a youth-oriented partnership such as Quiksilver.
