Laptop makers such as Asustek Computer have already said the shortage will cut back their laptop PC shipments this year.
However according to one of the world's largest notebook battery makers, Simplo Technology, the supply of lithium-ion batteries should now return to normal in the third quarter when battery makers start to increase their production.
Asustek believes the battery shortage may have meant lost sales for its Eee PC laptop this year, which although has reached some 5 million units, could have been much higher were it not for the battery troubles.
