The minister for broadband, communications and the digital economy was responsible for urging Telstra to extend the changeover, with Telstra country wide group managing director, Geoff Booth, announcing on Friday that his company would ‘re-commit' itself to working with the unsatisfied customers until 28 April 2008.

According to Booth, Telstra was confident it could meet its original deadline of 28 January for the migration of CDMA customers, however the minister "has made a different assessment."
Telstra does not name the nature of its "customer issues" however the telco distributed a press notice last week meant to educate CDMA customers about the steps they need to follow to migrate to the Next G service.
"Despite our repeated attempts to alert customers about the impending CDMA network closure through multiple letters, text messages and phone calls, we're concerned that some people may still not realise they are on the CDMA network," said Telstra country wide director, Gary Goldsworthy, in the notice.
