  Official Release: Vista Service Pack

By Sarah Falson | Tuesday | 2008-02-05

From March, Vista users will be able to purchase a Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack that aims to secure the over 100 million Vista licenses sold since launch, the owners of which have experienced problems with compatibility and reliability.

The Vista Service Pack will offer solutions to "key feedback received" from Vista customers across "a number of areas", including issues with reliability, compatibility with other software and hardware, and performance, such as copying files and shutdown time, according to Microsoft.

According to a press statement today, Microsoft developed the Vista Service Pack based on complaints and feedback received directly from customers as well as from views posted on self-help forums and blogs.

Microsoft Volume Licensing customers will be the first to gain access to the new pack, according to Microsoft.

The new service pack or ‘SP 1' will allow Vista to support new types of hardware and emerging standards, like EFI and ExFat.
